Pikes Peak Regional Medical Center Association
Curt Grina, Chairman of the Board

In 1999 Teller County health care services were seriously deficient. Expert estimates indicated that up to two hundred of our citizens suffered preventable deaths or permanent disability simply because of the time it took to reach a quality trauma center. Lack of a good hospital with 24x7 emergency service was both a negative quality-of-life and economic factor for the community.
A group of active citizens decided to do something about that and founded the PPRMC Association with a charter to build a high quality acute care hospital with extensive emergency/trauma capability.
The all-volunteer Directors of the Association set ambitious goals for the project including long-term economic sustainability, avoidance of increasing the local tax burden, and a list of services must-haves.
The road was long, difficult, and successful. Nine years of planning, fund raising, financing, and establishing business partnerships led to the opening in October 2007 of the hospital, a large Medical Offices building, and the establishment of a 20 acre Medical Campus to support continued growth driven by the Association’s mission.
